Game Review

HANK!

5 Thoughts about last night's game:

Mike Young: Before the game, I named Ian Kinsler a key to the game but he laid an 0-5 egg. Mike Young had 3 hits including the leadoff hit in the 9th that started the rally. He picked up the slack.

Kevin Millwood: He once again pitched like an ace, at least all the way up to the 7th inning where I think the heat got to him and he lost command of his fastball. It wasn't his best game but he held Angels hitters to 1 run over 6 innings.

Hitting with RISP: Hitting with runners in scoring position is something that has really doomed this team over the past decade. While the offense has been known to be strength of this team, timely hitting with runners on base has been a weakness. Last night the Rangers lineup was 5-11 with RISP, that is excellent.

Angels Baserunning: What can I really say about it? It was garbage.

Franky Fransisco: No command of his fastball whatsoever, I hope it was only a bad game and not a preview of the post-DL Franky.

All in all, it was a good series for the Rangers. They could not get anything going against O'Sullivan in the first game, but they knocked around Joe Saunders and Jarred Weaver pretty well. The Rangers are 5-1 against the Angels and 15-4 against the west, that is what is keeping this team in the hunt and that is what you HAVE to do if you want to be in it at the end.

Several times over the past month, the Rangers seemed like they were coming out of their offensive rut but then fell right back into it again. It will be important for the Rangers to build on what they accomplished in this Angels series and carry it over to the Tampa series.
