The New Rangers
So December 15 is the day we find out who the new Rangers owner will be. Trust me this whole thing is completely confusing but I know one thing.....Tom Hicks is out! Groups apparently sent in bids and now its down to two possible owners. They are Dennis Gilbert, former player agent and Chuck Greenburg, really rich guy from what I hear. Both potential owners bring a lot to the table, Gilbert is a baseball mind who has been in the business of baseball for many years now. He is currently a special executive for the Chicago White Sox. Chuck Greenburg isn't really a baseball mind, all he ever did was be a lawyer to baseball players. Why do I like Chuck Greenburg? Because he of course has the group that has Nolan Ryan in it. Ryan is the deal breaker right now. Yes we all know that if Gilbert cans Ryan it won't exactly be the end of the world but damn its been great with Nolan. He has transformed a really crappy pitching staff and with a little help from Jon Daniels, developed the best farm system in the league.
All in all the Rangers are going to be in good hands. The Rangers needs a owner who wants to win and an owner who knows a little something about doing that. Tom Hicks thought he knew about owning a baseball team, hell he won a Stanley Cup....wait. Tom figured if you spent enough money you can buy a world series. Not so much, we need a smart owner who wants to win and knows how to do that. I'm very excited and I can't wait to see how this goes. Texas Rangers are in too good of a market to be the way they are.
